Issues we are solving

First things first– let’s start by defining the community we aim to serve: emergent bilinguals. Most commonly known as English Language Learners (ELL), these are immigrant students coming into the U.S. education system and whose primary, native language is a language other than English.

Many public schools have ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) or ESL (English as a Second Language) Programs to support them in the transition. However, these programs are typically underfunded and understaffed, and data shows ESOL students are more likely to have lower earnings, higher unemployment, and higher dropout rates.

As emergent bilinguals become an increasing portion of the total K-12 student population, it is now more urgent than ever to help them overcome the obstacles they face and ensure they have the support they need to harness their full potential.

At ESOL Achievers, we aim to change the narrative, turning what some may see as a detriment, into an opportunity. These students do not have a language barrier, in contrast, they are emergent bilinguals.
